If item attributes were tied to individual tomes - only for either limited additions to item properties or tweaking already existing item properties, this could make for an interesting dynamic. But I agree with all the story work/elements and ancient wonder exploration being the main focus for item gathering. I personally love crafting items and using things like an arcane forge (I confess I used an aow3 mod to expand it even further). Shadow Magic and Planetfall was two model that I remember, personnally. But for me it is a false argument : items under exploration can be more powerful to stay competitive. If there is no forge or way to have few items, The reason will be obviously to encourage exploration.

Tomes look like hyper customizable (I love this choice, the multiple possibilities of associations) but it seems not be the same with items confined to the randomness. Sadly, I have see nothing on this subject in the differents dev diary.

I think random events can drop differents things compared to the tech tree, perhaps even slighty stronger (its normal), no problem, but there must be other options to complete this objective to have an similarly equivalent hero in the tech tree or with the forge ! Its a subtle balance. The race in planetfall who can steal the technologies was so much fun for this purpose.

Perhaps I am alone, but I like the idea to have a 100 % chance to have what I want with a choice of build order or tech tree order. On an other hand, was here in multiplayer but only after a patch if my memory is good ? For me, trully one of the best idea of the game. Honnestly, Forging was the thing that I like the most in Shadow Magic, because its creative, its an open strategy of creativity.įor me, in Planetfall, the fact you can unlock mount and items with tech tree was also awsome.
